Motivation, Discipline, and Ambition, Oh My!

Exploring shifts in routines, habits and values

In this illuminating and uplifting episode, Stephie and Raven discussed likely internal shifts in motivation, daily habits and and one’s sense of purpose and direction post ‘pandemic.’ The idea of returning to ‘normal’ that so many craved bore out for some, and not for others.

Truthfully, we’ve all been affected, one way or the other.

  • Jobs and businesses disappeared.

  • Remote work became a norm, when in the past companies resisted it.

  • Schooling changed, significantly affecting our children’s lives.

  • Relationships came under close scrutiny living in close quarters, for months in some locations. Some strengthened and some dissolved.

  • The way we shop and receive our goods has significantly been altered.

  • And so on.

These might sound like difficult things - and they were - but like any shocking upset to basic life foundations, we were presented with an opportunity to review, evaluate and dare we say it, pivot.

You could say we were given one big fat pause moment.

  • Raven lost her ambition for the work, the she, she used to know herself as, and is recovering, but differently.

  • Stephie talked about being a parent of a Gen Z high-schooler (at the time), and needing to become the foundation for his welfare.

We both found comfort and stability in simple morning routines that did not rely on anything going on in the outside world.

How do you see it? What have you experienced?

How have your habits and expectations changed? Motivation and ambition?
What habits nurture nurture you well-being?
